Mercedes-Benz Reveals 2028 VLE, a Luxury Electric Van Aimed at Families and Executives
Mercedes-Benz is doing something with the 2028 VLE, a premium electric van that is made to be very comfortable and practical for families. Luxury brands do not usually make minivans in the United States. Mercedes-Benz thinks there is room for a nicer option.
The VLE is different from Mercedes-Benz vans like the Sprinter and the old Metris. The VLE is made for people not for work. Mercedes-Benz calls it a ” limousine” because it is very comfortable and has a lot of advanced technology.
Inside the VLE people can choose to have seats for up to eight passengers. There are options, like seats that turn around special chairs with massage and leg rests and seats in the back that can move, fold or change depending on what people need. The VLE also has features like tables that fold down a big screen for entertainment and many different ways to set up the seats. This makes the van good for family trips. For important people to ride in.
The VLE also has a lot of technology. It has the version of the MBUX system, which is controlled by a voice assistant that uses artificial intelligence. There is a screen that goes across the front of the van and people in the back can watch a big screen on the ceiling with very clear video and can even have meetings.
The VLE uses Mercedes-Benz electric system called Van.EA. The first version, called the VLE300 has one motor that makes about 268 horsepower. Later there will be a powerful version called the VLE400 with two motors that make, about 409 horsepower. Mercedes-Benz thinks the single-motor version can go 700 kilometers on one charge and it can charge very quickly because it uses an 800-volt system.
